Against the 100% tyranny

In different contexts there are different rules and different goals.
Translating a book is a one-shot task, which might need further revisions
in some cases but in most it will not. In contrast, translating software
related text is a task that mostly concerns keeping up with the ever
changing and improving original text. For that text to become completely
static it means most probably that piece of software is now dead, unused
or unmaintained, something that in a sense would be undesirable even for
the translation.

Setting tough targets is important in this case, because it puts a name
to your goal, but we should be aware that reaching this goal is just a
mirage. Even if reached, which is of course possible, it will only last
for a short period of time. To ignore this fact will just produce stress,
friction with others and self-deception, which we don't intend to suffer.

Additionally one of the most wonderful features of the gettext system is
that it supports and is designed to support partial translations, because
its authors were aware of the never ending nature of this work.

We declare that our team has as goal to always tend to the 100% global
translation mark, but to never reach it, just approximate it closely.
We thus, happily embrace the almost-but-not-quite-100% regime.
